How can you turn a sunburn into a tan?

i went to the beach today, and my stomach,chest and kind of my legs got really burnt...im really white, and want to change that, so how can i turn this burn into a tan? since its my stomach im willing to experiment with things. i heard emu oil will turn burns into tans? im just really tired of people making fun of how white i am. all im asking for is a little color in my skin..nothing drastic. just to wear im not paper white like i am right now. i used to be pretty tan, but for some reason when i moved from florida to california, that completely changed.
