How to trim leg hair!!!?

I have a lot of leg hair. I dont want to shave it, just trim it. I have an electric shaver, and the smallest clip, but when i use the clip it doesnt trim any of the hair becase the hair is laying down, not standing up. Is there any way to trim leg hair without completly shving all the hair off?
