I shaved my side burns (im a girl). Is ok to do?

Ok, so I was getting to tired of my long side burns so I cut them really short and then I put this hair removal cream on it. The cream didn't get rid of the hair so after I washed the cream away, I was left with really bad cut up side bangs that just look so embarrassing. I kind of paniced and took a eyebrow shaver and shaved off my side burns. It looks ok now as long as you don't look too close and it's kind of rough. I know a lot of people that shave thier arms so I reasoned that shaving my side burns was just as wierd- therefore it is ok? Will it look wierd as it grows back? What if I keep shaving them? Will I get that gross shadow that guys get on their faces?
