What should I clean my gauges with?

My plugs are at about 7/8 right now with tape around them. One ear is fine, but the other is sore right now. Since I've been stretching I've used h20 salt water, and theyve been fine. Lately theyve been dry, and I don't have the money to buy emu oil or whatever. Is it okay to just use nonscented soap/lotion?
